Nihongo for Everyone

The Japanese Studies Program (JSP) of the Ateneo de Manila University offers once more Basic Japanese I and II, a course offering under a program called Nihongo for Everyone. Basic Japanese 1 is for beginners. It focuses on basic communication skills, particularly through speaking and listening. The module also introduces a basic knowledge of Japanese characters (or the equivalent of letters or alphabets) for everyday use in Japan.

Basic Japanese 2 is for those who have finished Basic Japanese 1 or any 30 hours of classroom instruction on the Japanese language. The course introduces additional basic expressions, sentence patterns, and useful vocabulary needed to engage in daily communication with Japanese people.

The two courses are offered on Saturdays, July 21 to September 22, 2007. Basic Japanese 1 is held from 9am-12noon; Basic Japanese 2 is from 1-4 pm. Both courses are going to be offered in the Loyola Heights Campus of the Ateneo de Manila University.

For those interested, they can email the program using this address so that the form can be sent to them online. Registration can be done thru fax or E-mail anytime. One can also personally come to JSP to register before the module starts. Registration fee is P5,000 (P4,500 for students and employees of the Ateneo de Manila University). The fee covers handouts and other materials.
